Birthmothers exists outside of four walls.
It is built among the people of God —
in congregations that become part of the Birthmothers network.

PARTNERING CHURCHES

A Partnering Church is a congregation
that is committed to the Birthmothers ministry
and fosters ongoing, growing support for hurting women, babies and families.

Ways Partnering Churches Support Birthmothers

  • Active volunteers. A congregation with two or more active Birthmothers volunteers (see Be a volunteer) is a Partnering Church.
  • Church Teams. A congregation that sponsors a Birthmothers Church Team is a Partnering Church.
  • Financial support. A congregation that provides financial support to Birthmothers, or encourages its members to contribute to the ministry, is a Partnering Church.
  • “Approved Ministry” designation. A congregation that designates Birthmothers as a ministry endorsed or approved by its board is a Partnering Church.
  • Intentional networking. A church that intentionally seeks out and welcomes women and families in crisis pregnancies with love, acceptance and compassion, and provides them with a network of support, is a Partnering Church.

Becoming a Partnering Church

Help your congregation join the Birthmothers network!

We need at least 50 Partnering Churches in the Washington, D.C. metro area ministering to pregnant women and their families.

  • Pray. Ask God to confirm your call to mobilize your congregation for this ministry.
  • Contact Birthmothers at (703) 241-4515 or via e-mail to indicate your interest.
  • Arrange to meet with Birthmothers’ staff. We’ll explain our vision for the ministry, show you ways churches can help and give you informational materials to help activate your congregation.
  • Meet with key congregation members to determine how your church should be involved with Birthmothers.
  • Obtain approval from your church board to become a Birthmothers Partnering Church.
  • Begin recruiting interested church members (both men and women) for ministry with Birthmothers through announcements, information sessions and networking.
  • Continue to foster your congregation’s involvement with ministry updates and presentations.
