I want to volunteer with Birthmothers. What should I do?

  • Pray. Ask God to confirm your call to serve in this ministry.
  • Contact Birthmothers at (703) 241-4515 or via e-mail for information about volunteering.
  • Share with the Birthmothers staff your area of interest: hospitality, office help, computers, communications, prayer, transportation or another specific ministry.
  • Attend training.
  • Join the Birthmothers team in ministering to hurting women, babies and families.
  • See Job Opportunities for specific volunteer openings.

I want to become a Birthmothers Friend. What should I do?

  • Pray. Ask God to confirm your call to this ministry and to interceding regularly for birth moms.
  • Contact Birthmothers at (703) 241-4515 or via e-mail to indicate your interest.
  • Attend an Orientation Meeting with other potential Friends to learn more about the Friends ministry, share personal stories and determine that you feel called to proceed.
  • Attend Friends Training, where you will receive a Training Manual.
  • Be matched with a birth mom.
  • Attend periodic in-service trainings to continue learning about pregnancy, childbirth, services, resources and issues associated with expectant women and their families.
  • Meet regularly with other Friends and Team members for encouragement, support and prayer.

I want to introduce Birthmothers to my church or organization. What should I do?

  • Arrange for a speaker. Contact the Birthmothers office at (703) 241-4515 or via e-mail to arrange for a Birthmothers representative to speak at your church or organization.
  • Distribute Birthmothers’ literature. Contact Katie Boland at (703) 241-4515 or via e-mail to request a packet of Birthmothers’ promotional materials for your information racks at your church or organization.
  • Pass out Need a Friend? cards. Contact Katie Boland at (703) 241-4515 or via e-mail to request a packet of Need a Friend? cards. Give one to every Christian you know. Tell them about Birthmothers. Ask them to share the card with someone who is pregnant — or keep it until the time is right.

I want to help my congregation become a Partnering Church. What should I do?

  • Pray. Ask God to confirm your call to mobilize your congregation for this ministry.
  • Contact Birthmothers at (703) 241-4515 or via e-mail to indicate your interest.
  • Arrange to meet with Birthmothers’ staff. We’ll explain our vision for the ministry, show you ways churches can help and give you informational materials to help activate your congregation.
  • Meet with key congregation members to determine how your church should be involved with Birthmothers.
  • Obtain approval from your church board to become a Birthmothers Partnering Church.
  • Begin recruiting interested church members for ministry with Birthmothers through announcements, information sessions and networking.
  • Foster your congregation’s involvement with ministry updates and presentations.

I want to start a Birthmothers Church Team. What do I do?

  • Pray. Ask God to confirm your call to participation and regular prayer intercession for this ministry.
  • Contact Birthmothers at (703) 241-4515 or via e-mail to indicate your interest.
  • Arrange to meet with Birthmothers’ staff. We’ll explain our vision for the ministry, how Church Teams work and give you informational materials to help mobilize your congregation.
  • Obtain approval from your church board to build a Birthmothers ministry in your congregation.
  • Begin recruiting interested church members (both men and women) with announcements, information sessions and networking.
  • Identify a Team Coordinator that will lead the ministry in your church.
  • Meet with your new Church Team, and begin your ministry!

I want to pray for Birthmothers. What should I do?

  • Join our weekly prayer call every Wednesday @ 1:45. For more details on joining our call.. send an email and put "Join our Prayer Call" on the subject line.
  • Pray for Birthmothers with your prayer group or on your own. See Prayer List for the latest list of prayer updates and requests for Birthmothers.
  • Sign up for Birthmothers’ e-mail list. E-mail Prayer Coordinator Montrece Rolling to receive regular prayer updates and requests in your inbox.

I want to make an in-kind or financial contribution to Birthmothers. What should I do?

  • To make an in-kind donation of material goods: office equipment, computer hardware, software, office supplies and furniture are deeply appreciated. Contact Katie Boland for contribution procedures (703-241-4515 or via e-mail).
