For You From The Word
Your Father knows what you need before you ask him. (Matthew 6:8)
For You To Think About
In biblical times, babies were often not given a name until they were a few years old. Family members waited to see what traits the child exhibited. A person’s name often referred to his character or personality.
Likewise, the names of God in the Bible tell us about His character. “Father,” for example, is a metaphor. That name reveals God’s desire to protect, nourish, and uphold us.
Father’s Day is a time when we honor our dads, granddads, and men who have provided protection and stability in our lives.
No matter what kind of earthly dad you and your children have had, one fact is certain: each of us can honor our Heavenly Father on Father’s Day by thanking Him for –
• giving us life
• protecting us for eternity by offering salvation
• nourishing us with His Word
• upholding us with the Holy Spirit
For You To Pray
Heavenly Father, thank you for giving me life, protecting me, nourishing me, and upholding me. Amen.
